Your mates matter!
Tuesday 9th February is Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme is ‘play your part for a better Internet’. We asked our activists: "How can you show you support your friends online?"
YoungMindsVs Activists encourage you to look out for your friends online, to make the Internet a more supportive place. By sending out a high-five you can let a mate know you’ve got their back. Let’s start a chain of support to inspire an Internet that is kind, respectful and inclusive. Because #MatesMatter
Send a high-five
Last year you spread a chain of support across social media by nominating your friends to take part. This year we’re ramping up the campaign and ask you to high-five more of your mates in solidarity against online hate. Take a picture of your high-five in motion, use the hashtag and post on social media. And two lucky people will get the chance to win £20 worth of vouchers! (See T&C’s below to enter.)
Small gesture, BIG DIFFERENCE
For this year’s campaign to be really successful and make a difference we need you to spread the high-five as far as possible, reaching as many young people online as we can.
We’re also using the hashtag #MatesMatter to promote the Talking Taboos film to highlight why young people can find the online world tough without the support of others.
How to send your high-five

-
Write their name or username on the palm of your hand
